Abstract:

Mythic Jurisprudence examines the intricate relationship between law and mythology, aiming to unravel the underlying connections and disparities between these two distinct realms of human understanding. This interdisciplinary study delves into the ways in which myths and legal systems shape human behavior, societal norms, and the concept of justice.

Drawing on a comprehensive analysis of various mythologies and legal traditions across cultures and time periods, this research highlights the pervasive influence of mythology on legal systems. Myths often serve as the foundation of legal principles, with their narratives providing moral and ethical guidance, establishing norms, and reinforcing social order. Conversely, legal frameworks also affect the myths themselves, shaping their interpretation and cultural significance.

The study explores the symbiotic relationship between law and mythology, examining how mythological archetypes and themes permeate legal systems and legal discourse. It investigates the role of mythic narratives in the development of legal concepts such as punishment, reward, restitution, and the idea of divine justice. By analyzing the similarities and disparities between legal and mythological frameworks, this research seeks to elucidate the shared symbolic and cultural significance they possess.

Furthermore, this study addresses the inherent challenges and implications arising from the convergence and divergence of law and mythology. It examines the potential conflicts between legal reasoning and mythical symbolism, as well as the impact of legal modernization on the preservation of mythological elements within legal systems.

Ultimately, Mythic Jurisprudence aims to bridge the gap between law and mythology, shedding light on the complex interplay between these two spheres of human thought. By unraveling their intertwined nature, this research offers valuable insights into the cultural, psychological, and historical dimensions that shape legal systems, expanding our understanding of the profound influence of mythology on the administration of justice.
